Hi everyone! My name is Francesca but a lot of my friends call me Fran, so you are welcome to as well. I am 20 years old. I was born in Vancouver and then raised in Sechelt which is a little town on The Sunshine Coast and now I am living in Victoria while doing my degree. I am Canadian and Italian, my mother moved to Canada when she was very young so we have a lot of family in Italy and even a family house that we go visit almost every summer. This is my first summer in many years (besides COVID) when I haven’t gone, as I am taking many summer courses so I wanted to stay in Victoria to focus on school. My first language is English but I have a goal of learning Italian, so I can better communicate with my relatives.

I just finished my 2nd year of the Elementary BEd. program at Uvic so I’m halfway there and I’m expected to finish in spring of 2026. At the beginning of May, I finished up my very first practicum in a grade 1 class here in Victoria and had the best time ever! Teaching 2D and 3D shapes, Author study on Todd Parr and an Earth Day lesson.

Over the summer  I am currently working toward my TQS upgrade of 10 extra courses in hopes of completing it before I graduate. I would say my favourite academic subjects have to be math and science. As for hobbies, I have two main hobbies that take up my life. They are dancing and powerlifting. I have spent my entire life doing competitive dance and now I am a dance teacher at two of the studios here in Victoria. This past year I got to help prepare my students for their and mine (as the teacher) first dance exams which were both exciting and stressful but they ended up doing really well. Aside from teaching dance, I spend a lot of my time working out, particularly in the sport of powerlifting. I have been training in powerlifting for about two years now and have competed at 4 competitions, one being a provincial meet and the other being a regional meet. Over the summer I am continuing to train in hopes of competing in the early fall.

Here is a picture of me and my coach at the Canadian Western championship (I am on the right).
